Its news coverage quickly expanded, and in a few short years, it was a national publication in both scope and readership. During a critical period in the gay liberation and the lesbian and gay rights movement, GCN was a nationally respected, and oftentimes controversial, source of information about the community and a catalyst for political debate. GCN published as a weekly from 1973 to 1992, and as a quarterly until 1999. The collection below contains a selection of digitized issues and articles in Gay Community News.
