In this recording of Boston's Other Voice, which aired on December 25, 1988, host Peter Stickel interviews Robert Barney from the Boston Gay Men's Chorus. Barney is the music director of the Chorus; he discusses the audition process, the new cohesive sound of the group, the composition of the chorus, and their rehearsal routine. Many pieces of music are also heard throughout the interview. Stickel and Barney also discuss difficulties members of the LGBTQ community ofter face during the holiday season and things they can do to build families of choice. The interview ends with a recording of the Gay Men's Chorus performing a piece from by Stephen Sondheim called "No One Is Alone" from the musical "Into the Woods."
