An account of the resource
Boston's Other Voice was an LGBTQ-themed radio magazine that ran from February 1981 to November 1989. The show was created by Don Latulippe, public affairs programming director at WROR-FM 98.5 (the FM sister station to WRKO-AM, both owned by RKO General), and psychotherapist Dennis Iadarolla.
The show was hosted from 1981-1985 by Dennis Iadarolla and from 1986-1989 by Peter Stickel. Don Latulippe hosted an interview with Stickel during this period, as well.
According to Peter Stickel, these recordings of the show were rescued as the station was sold and the show cut due in part to the public affairs program requirement ending during the Reagan administration.

Description

In this recording of Boston's Other Voice, which aired on June 4, 1989, host Peter Stickel interviews Wendy Scott and Beth Leventhal about what they refer to as lesbian battering. Leventhal is also an advocate for battered lesbians and discusses myths around lesbian relationships and why many people do not believe that battering in a lesbian relationship is possible. There are no statistics currently about how often battering happens in lesbian relationships, but Leventhal speculates that it is probably the similar to instances in heterosexual relationships. Scott and Leventhal also tell their personal stories of battering in previous relationships. Leventhal works at HAWC (Help for Abused Women and Children, which later changed its name to Healing Abuse Working for Change) where battered woman, including lesbians, can get counseling and assistance. The Wallflower Order
Description
An account of the resource
The Wallflower Order was co-founded in 1975 by Krissy Keefer with the mission to provide an expanded artistic landscape as it related to women in the 20th century. Working with feminist production companies, political groups and women's sevice organizations, the company contributed to the cultural community of the North American women's movement, giving artistic expression to the issues of political and social justice that brought us together. In this photograph five women from The Wallflower Order pose for a portrait: two women are standing, two are sitting in chairs, and one women is sitting on the floor, all smiling at each other.
