Description
AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP) is an international direct action advocacy group working to impact the lives of people with AIDS (PWAs). ACT UP/Boston was founded in 1987 as a way to focus local efforts in support of the development of AIDS treatments, AIDS educational programs, and AIDS prevention strategies. ACT UP/Boston works to effect changes in government and health care policies as well as medical research to address the AIDS crisis. In this photograph, ACT UP members hold protest signs: “ACT UP Fight Back, Fight Aids,” “Clean Data,” and “Are We Sick Enough Yet?” protesting potential drug interaction trials at Harvard.
