Description
An account of the resource
Boston's Other Voice was an LGBTQ-themed radio magazine that ran from February 1981 to November 1989. The show was created by Don Latulippe, public affairs programming director at WROR-FM 98.5 (the FM sister station to WRKO-AM, both owned by RKO General), and psychotherapist Dennis Iadarolla.
The show was hosted from 1981-1985 by Dennis Iadarolla and from 1986-1989 by Peter Stickel. Don Latulippe hosted an interview with Stickel during this period, as well.
According to Peter Stickel, these recordings of the show were rescued as the station was sold and the show cut due in part to the public affairs program requirement ending during the Reagan administration.

In this recording of Boston's Other Voice, which aired on January 14, 1987, host Don Latulippe interviews Peter Stickel and Hera Klein about an upcoming conference in Boston called Getting Well, Staying Healthy. This is a holistic health conference for those concerned about AIDS. The conference offers practical strategies for building health and a positive way of going about building a better life for oneself. Both interviewees are practitioners of the SOMA approach to massage, which focuses on neuromuscular integration, relieving tension and reshaping the body's fascia. The conference focuses on physical, spiritual, mental health, nutrition, body work medicine, attitude, and movement. This interview may have been recorded in 1986, as the interview refers to 1985 as "last year." The date is also confusing, as Peter Stickel is typically the host of Boston's Other Voice.

The MCC is a church aimed at including the gay community. The membership was raised roughly one third Catholic, one third Protestant, and one third outside the church. The MCC tries to bring what he refers to as the "good" parts of each church together, to create a welcome place for all people to practice. The MCC was started about 20 years before this interview by Troy Perry, who is still active in the church. In the interview they talk about how the church operates, who goes to the church, and the theology of the church.
