Date

1988-01-31

Description

In this recording of Boston's Other Voice, which aired on January 31, 1988, host Peter Stickel interviews Steve Carson, Minister of the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC). The MCC is a church aimed at including the gay community. The membership was raised roughly one third Catholic, one third Protestant, and one third outside the church. The MCC tries to bring what he refers to as the "good" parts of each church together, to create a welcome place for all people to practice. The MCC was started about 20 years before this interview by Troy Perry, who is still active in the church. In the interview they talk about how the church operates, who goes to the church, and the theology of the church.
